Gone are the days when cement, sand and water needed to be mixed on site to create cement slurry for construction projects. Today, depending on your needs, there are many different types of premix mortar available. To use this, all one must do is add water and mix. It’s easier and so much more convenient. However, convenience isn’t the only reason to choose premix mortar over traditional cement.

Advantages of premix mortar

The most important advantage premix mortar has over cement is its higher bond strength. Many premix mortars are polymer based that help prevent shrinkage and resultant cracks, and strengthen bonds. Using premix mortar ensures less wastage, and it lowers transportation costs and hence offers higher cost efficiency too.

Premix mortar is formulated to meet the needs of different construction materials. For example, AAC blocks are insulating in nature and using traditional cement to bind these blocks creates gaps in the insulation. However, premix block joining mortar shares the insulating properties of AAC blocks and won’t allow outside heat to enter the building during summers or the inside heat to escape during winters.

Premix mortar also allows for better finishing. In the case of block joining mortar, a very thin layer of the material is needed to join blocks. Similarly, in the case of tile adhesives, the mortar has a higher open time and is easier to spread as compared to cement slurry. This enables masons to adjust tile positions conveniently so as to achieve neat edges. The even layer of adhesive between the tiles and the substrate ensures a stronger bond and reduces the risk of chipping or cracking as well.

Magicrete and premix mortar

Magicecrete offers a wide variety of premix mortars for all kinds of residential and commercial projects. When it comes to joining AAC blocks or MagicBlox, MagicBond, a block joining mortar has proven to be more efficient and stronger than cement. This product is easier to use as well. A ready mix plaster known as MagicPlast also helps to achieve an even finish on walls after the AAC blocks are joined. It is eco-friendly and resistant to moisture seepage. The MagicBond Tile Adhesive can then be used to affix all types of tiles and stones to interior and exterior walls without the fear of slippage, poor alignment or cracking.
